4-day itinerary to Jaco Island via Com & Tutuala
Day 1 – Dili to Com
- Depart Dili - stroll the Ai‑Parapa Boardwalk in Manatuto, stop at Laletek Laleia Café, enjoying great coffee on the outdoor balcony with sweeping views of the mountains
- Take the coastal road, rejoining the main route near Baucau Airport
- Visit Igreja de Laleia, a beautiful Portuguese‑era Catholic church
- Arrive in Com Village, stay overnight in a guesthouse on the beach and enjoy fresh locally caught grilled fish for dinner
Day 2 – Exploring Com & Tutuala
- Explore Com Village, visiting the Uma Lulik, walk to Umun Ira sacred lake and Airleu Beach
- Enjoy the forest / coastal walk to Antigo Edificio do Com, Semeterio Muapusso and Salara Alara Beach
- Discover the Tais weaving cooperative with storytelling and traditional textiles
- Drive east to Tutuala, stopping at the restored Pousada Lautem for views across to the Wetar Islands
- Arrive at Valu Beach and stay overnight at the beach-side eco‑lodge, enjoying the sunset at Timor‑Leste’s eastern tip.
Day 3 – Jaco Island Adventure
- Take a picnic and arrange a local fishing boat from Valu Beach across to Jaco Island
- Spend the day walking, relaxing, swimming, and snorkelling among pristine reefs, bird‑filled forests and the local rusa deer population
- Return to Valu beach and stay overnight
Day 4 – Valu Beach to Dili
- Visit ancient caves Lene Hara, Lene Cece or Il Kere Kere.
- Hike down to Zo’on Sere Chailoro, an isolated forest oasis perfect for swimming
- Begin the return journey to Dili, taking the inland road before rejoining the coast road to Baucau
- Take a break in Baucau and swim at the local freshwater swimming pool, enjoy afternoon tea and wander the grounds of the historic Pousada Baucau before continuing on to Dili.
4-day itinerary to Lore via Com & Los Palos
Day 1 – Dili to Com

- Lospalos, sightseeing takes on a local flavour with the unique Tum Tum — individually decorated, electric minibuses that cost just $1–2 to take you anywhere around town. Riding in a Tum Tum is not only practical but also a cultural experience, as each vehicle reflects the creativity of its owner
- Discover street art, the local market and traditional Fataluku food
- Overnight in Lospalos – a selection of local guesthouses and a small Portuguese hotel
Day 3 – Lospalos to Lore
- Driving to Lore over the mountains, is one of the most scenic journeys in Timor‑Leste. The road winds through dense forest alive with birdsong and shaded by towering sandalwood and tropical trees. Pass through traditional villages, where houses with thatched roofs and sacred Uma Lulik stand as symbols of cultural heritage
- Overnight at Sescko Sandalwood Eco-Resort
Day 4 – Lore to Dili
- Walk through the sandalwood forest to the Portuguese Alfândega ruin, swim and snorkel
- Bird watching – take a walk along Lore’s beaches and through the forest, spotting endemic birds
- Visit the turtle conservation co-op and release some hatchlings
- Begin the return drive to Dili retracing scenic mountains and coastal roads
6-7 day itinerary to Jaco Island and Lore
Day 1 – Dili to Com
